Welcome
The Kumejima Marathon is held annually in October on Kumejima Island (also called Kumi-no-Shima, "Isle of Beauty"), a 30-minute flight from Naha Airport in Okinawa, Japan. Running since 1989, the event is one of Japan's most beloved island marathons, known for its scenic coastal course, warm community atmosphere, and post-race Fureai Party with all-you-can-drink Okinawan awamori spirit.

Distances & Time Limits
- Full Marathon (42.195km) — 7 hours — starts 8:00
- Half Marathon (21.0975km) — 3.5 hours — starts 9:30
- 10km — 2 hours — starts 9:40
- 5km — 1.5 hours — starts 10:00
- 3km — 45 minutes — starts 8:30 (junior high school students & age 70+)
Entry Fees
- Full / Half Marathon: ¥6,000 (general) / ¥3,500 (high school)
- 10km / 5km: ¥5,000 (general) / ¥3,500 (high school)
- 3km: ¥2,000 (students) / ¥4,000 (age 70+)
Registration Period: June 1 – August 7, 2026

International runners can register through Run Japan:
Register on Run JapanEligibility: Age 16+ for Full, Half, 10km, 5km. Parental consent required for under 18.
Getting to Kumejima
Fly into Naha Airport (OKA), Okinawa. From Naha, take a 30-minute flight on JTA or RAC to Kumejima Airport (UEO). Alternatively, take a high-speed ferry (90 min) or regular ferry (4 hours) from Naha Tomari Port to Kumejima Kaneiku Port. See the Access page for full details.
From Tokyo: approx. 4–5 hours total (fly to Naha, connect to Kumejima)
From Osaka: approx. 3–4 hours total
